Found a Swan in Distress?

In the Greater Toronto Area

Please contact Toronto Wildlife Centre by completing this form https://www.torontowildlifecentre.com/request-assist-form/  and attaching photos or video. Do not call 311 or Animal Control unless the swan is dead. Municipal services do not have rehabilitation capacity so they are more likely to put down animals, even those who could recover.

In Ontario but outside the Greater Toronto Area

Please refer to this list of wildlife rehabilitators, who may or may not operate rescue services https://www.torontowildlifecentre.com/ontario-wildlife-rehabilitators-map/

Other Areas

Please search online for “Wildlife Rescue” in your area.  We recommend contacting a charity or nonprofit organization if there is one, rather than one run by any level of government so that swans who might recover are given a chance instead of put down.

Contact Us

Feel free to contact The Mute Swan Society by completing the form below or through Direct Message on Facebook or Instagram @muteswansociety, or by phone at 647-522-0718.  We may be able to help coordinate with a rescue organization and/or send a volunteer to help, but we are not primarily a rescue and messages are not monitored 24/7 so our responses may be delayed.
